I am a retired NHS Consultant Psychiatrist of Nepalese origin.
I am the founder and Lead Facilitator of the Namaste Mindfulness Programme.
I continue to practise, research, and teach mindfulness-based programmes, supporting higher psychiatric and psychology trainees in both the UK and Nepal.
My mindfulness research has focused on communities in Hertfordshire (UK), Kathmandu and Janakpur (Nepal), helping to inform the culturally adapted approach used in the Namaste Mindfulness Programme.
My aim is to make evidence-informed mindfulness more accessible to Nepalese, Maithili- and Hindi-speaking communities by providing a supportive, culturally sensitive environment in which people can develop skills for lifelong wellbeing.
Throughout my career, I have been committed to improving mental wellbeing through compassionate, evidence-informed care. Developing the Namaste Mindfulness Programme has allowed me to combine my clinical experience, academic research and understanding of Nepalese culture to provide mindfulness in a way that is both scientifically grounded and culturally meaningful.
